TL;DR

PlaxidityX’s achievement of AWS Automotive Competency validates its ability to deliver secure, scalable, and high-performance cloud-native cybersecurity solutions for connected, software-defined vehicles. As automakers increasingly rely on cloud platforms like AWS to power innovation and manage vehicle data, ensuring end-to-end cybersecurity across edge and cloud environments becomes critical. This article explains how the PlaxidityX edge-to-cloud architecture integrates AWS capabilities to support diverse use cases for leading automotive manufacturers across the globe, helping them strengthen cybersecurity, facilitate compliance, and securely scale next-generation automotive services.

After a rigorous three-month validation process, it’s now official. PlaxidityX has been certified as an AWS Automotive Competency partner in the Connected Mobility and Software-Defined Vehicles (SDV) categories.

AWS doesn’t hand these out easily. This achievement follows a meticulous technical validation of our architecture and a vetting of several production projects with automotive clients. This is more than just a badge on our website – it validates our technical depth and ability to deliver high-stakes solutions for the automotive industry.

Why cloud-based platforms are important for automakers

Automotive manufacturers use cloud services like AWS to connect factory data, scale computing on demand, and accelerate innovation across vehicles, plants, and supply chains. AWS cloud infrastructure helps OEMs reduce downtime, improve quality, and build connected features and services used in today’s SDVs.

Cloud platforms can collect and analyze data from vehicles in near real time, which helps OEMs spot issues faster and optimize operations. As vehicle-generated data continues to grow and automakers need to scale quickly to meet the needs of variable workloads, AWS can scale resources up or down without the need for large upfront infrastructure purchases. In addition, cloud systems can be used to standardize IT across many sites, reduce supply-chain costs, and avoid expensive on-site hardware maintenance.

As OEMs build their next-generation SDVs, they have also begun to use advanced cloud frameworks to streamline their software development. Through the utilization of cloud and IoT technologies, these frameworks enable hardware-independent software development, facilitate agile product development, and support collaboration between multi-site development teams.

What Is AWS Automotive Competency?

As OEMs increasingly leverage the cloud to innovate and digitize their operating model, they look to work with cloud-native security vendors with deep automotive experience.. As an AWS Automotive Competency Partner, our architecture is proven to meet the highest standards of security, reliability and performance, while also giving us early access to AWS’s latest automotive roadmaps and co-selling opportunities.

In addition, the AWS Automotive Competency designation recognizes PlaxidityX’s proven expertise in delivering cloud-based AI-powered cybersecurity solutions tailored for the automotive industry, which integrate native AWS services..

AWS and the PlaxidityX Vehicle Detection & Response (VDR) Platform

So how do we leverage AWS services in our automotive cybersecurity offerings?

AWS serves as the foundation of the PlaxidityX VDR platform – a unified, AI-powered software solution that seamlessly integrates in-vehicle monitoring with advanced cloud-based analytics. VDR and its complementary products (vDome, SSCS, CI/CD security agents) all run on a cloud-native architecture built on top of AWS. The AWS Automotive Competency status applies to the entire PlaxidityX product line.

VDR supports a wide variety of use cases – from continuous vulnerability management and secure software development  to vehicle cyber protection and keyless car theft prevention.

Supporting Critical Automotive Use Cases

Here are just a few examples of how we integrate AWS to support diverse use cases for automotive clients across the globe:

Vulnerability Management

To strengthen vehicle cybersecurity and ensure compliance at scale, both OEMs and Tier 1 suppliers are using our Software Supply Chain Security product to embed continuous vulnerability management into its engineering lifecycle. SSCS leverages AWS Lambda and Step Functions to automate vulnerability and compliance workflows, while Amazon SQS enables event-driven processing across distributed development environments. The architecture utilizes Amazon RDS Proxy to manage secure, high-availability connections to managed data stores, as well as using Amazon API Gateway as a hardened entry point, combined with Amazon S3 for secure artifact storage.

Proactive Keyless Car Theft Prevention

To combat the surge in keyless car theft, OEMs and fleet operators are seeking ways to stop thieves before they drive away with the vehicle. The vDome solution uses a cloud-native architecture (AWS) to enable security monitoring and response at scale across large vehicle fleets. Using managed services such as AWS Lambda and Amazon SQS, vDome supports continuous data processing and event-driven analysis. Using vDome, this provider extended its capabilities beyond traditional tracking and recovery by offering a scalable cybersecurity layer that detects and neutralizes keyless theft attempts (e.g., CAN bus injection, key fob replications) in real time.

Accelerating Secure Development for Software-Defined Vehicles

As development cycles shortened, this digital engineering service provider faced increasing pressure to standardize cybersecurity processes across distributed teams, toolchains, and customer environments. Built on AWS, PlaxidityX’s CI/CD security solution provided a cloud-native, event-driven security orchestration layer, supported by AWS Step Functions, designed to operate seamlessly within the provider’s CI/CD environment. Leveraging AWS managed services such as AWS Lambda and Amazon SQS, security workflows were automated and triggered dynamically as software artifacts evolved. Supported by the resilience and scalability of AWS, security became an enabler of delivery speed – helping meet regulatory expectations while continuing to deliver complex automotive software at production scale.

Cloud Security Expertise You Can Trust

As vehicles become increasingly connected and software-centric, managing vulnerabilities and demonstrating cybersecurity compliance are top priorities for automotive system suppliers. Many OEMs are already equipped to meet UNR 155 cybersecurity requirements, but when they start to transition development and operations to the cloud they need to implement security across the entire ecosystem – from the edge to the cloud.

AWS Automotive Competency status assures OEMs that AWS has validated all security aspects of the PlaxidityX platform, including the entire cloud infrastructure, its design and how it communicates with the vehicle and other platforms.

This provides OEMs with the peace of mind they need to focus on software development and product quality.
