Tier 1 Supplier of E-Drive, ADAS and Steering Solutions
This Tier 1 supplier was commissioned to deliver a Gateway ECU solution to be deployed at a large Japanese OEM. In addition to meeting the OEM’s UNR 155 compliance obligations, the Gateway ECU had to support two different sets of diagnostics requirements. Due to the ECU’s high CAN traffic load, it was crucial that network monitoring and inspection be performed without CAN frame losses and without false positives.
The Tier-1 supplier implemented PlaxidityX’s IDPX CAN Protection solution within its gateway ECU to monitor traffic, detect anomalies, and optionally block common attack methods. The OEM has already deployed the IDPX in their fleet, and plans to embed this secure gateway ECU solution in over five million passenger vehicles. Fully compliant with UNR 155, this solution handles diagnostic and non-diagnostic CAN traffic separately via 22 virtual buses, while optimized inspection rules deliver high performance with low latency.
In addition to delivering built-in UNR 155 compliance, the product’s flexible feature sets allowed the supplier to meet late-stage change requests from the OEM even after code freeze. Using a threat-informed AI-model, IDPX CAN Protection is being used to inspect 100% of CAN traffic for indicators of intrusion, with zero false positives.
